LOTR movie?
September 19th, 2006I finally had a chance to see the 3rd part of LOTR movies. Althougth I enjoyed them all I couldn’t escape a thought at the end that it’s all just a very very long and very very ordinary and holliwooden-typical story of some bunch of events.
why? What I remember from movie is this..
- there is this ring that is making problems there
- two types of creatures.. bad who live in the ugly-land and good who live in more normal places - they hate eachother
- At the beginning Frodo is given that ring - only he can throw it to a volcano which is in that ugly-land…. he has various problems on his path but at the end he manages to do it and this makes all the uglies run away to nowhere?
- Then there is this guy Aragorn, he is coolest from the beginning - he fights good and all - he is in love with some elven beauty - there is a lot fighting and stuff and at the end he becomes a king and that elven becomes human and marries him
This is not important for main story but it happens also
- there are some kings and kings sons and daughters - one is a little to selfish and dies in part 1. his brother who (who his father the king doesn’t like) is nicer couples with daughter of the other king
- there is also a dwarf and an elven. They don’t have any critical roles - dwarf is there more for humor I suppose and elven is glamorous with his special abilities
- there is this old white wizard who sometimes does some magic and also knows some kung-fu with his magic wand when required… he is impressive with his beard and whiteness
- tons of unimportant people die in numerous battles, there is tons of bravery, pride, rightfulness and friendship - but if I recall right… no sex
Strange thing is that this movie is made from a very successful book (as you all know) and books are all about story as there is no FX possible on paper… that’s why I so don’t get it?
Ok, some more gibberish for the end…
- the boss of evil side of LOTR reminded me to Star Wars. That black guy with a mask was so Darth wader… to bad he didn’t breath that way too
- Otherwise the whole movie reminded me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a way… this nice asexual society where bad guys are soooo bad and ugly that slaying them is almost considered nice… “mom.. I slayed 10 orcs today” — “you are a good boy.. go wash your hands”
